What is THCV?
Tetrahydrocannabivarin, is a compound in cannabis that offers a unique array of effects and medical benefits that sets it apart from other cannabinoids like THC and CBD.
- Appetite suppressant. This may be good for consumers focused on weight loss, but THCV should be avoided by persons treating appetite loss or anorexia.
- Diabetes. Research shows promise in THCV’s ability to regulate blood sugar levels and reduce insulin resistance.
- Panic attacks. It appears to curb anxiety attacks in PTSD patients without suppressing emotion.
- Alzheimer’s. Tremors, motor control, and brain lesions associated with Alzheimer’s disease appear to be improved by THCV, but research is in progress.
- Bone growth. Because it promotes the growth of new bone cells, THCV is being looked at for osteoporosis and other bone-related conditions.
What is CBC?
Cannabichromene. Discovered over 50 years ago, CBC is considered one of the “big six” cannabinoids prominent in medical research. Scientific studies also highlight CBC’s potential for pain relief, reducing inflammation, and for anti-tumor effects in some cancers.
- Antidepressant properties. CBC raises the brain’s “bliss” molecule anandamide, a chemical that affects mental health.
- Cancer fighter. Studies have shown that CBC inhibits the growth of new cancer cells due to its unique interaction with the body’s natural endocannabinoid, anandamide.
- Pain and inflammation. Studies have shown that CBC can block pain and inflammation associated with collagen-induced osteoarthritis. Cannabinoids like CBC act on inflammation differently than non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) do, and don’t have the side effects of these medications. Together with THC, the entourage effect, the combination had significant anti-inflammatory response in a recent animal study.
